Steve McQuarry Presents the hot latin jazz of Tribu at Chalaca Annexo, 428 3rd St. (@ Broadway) - Oakland’s hottest new club with extraordinary Peruvian cuisine.
Following in the Latin Jazz traditions of Cal Tjader, Mongo Santamaria and Machito, Tribu( “tribe” in Spanish), brings the next continuum. With Afro-Caribbean mixed with American Jazz flavor, this music brings the feel of Latin Jazz into the 21st century.
The band members have collectively performed with Sheila E, Pat Methany, Miles Davis, Maria Muldaur, Dizzy Gillespie, Clare Fischer, Louie Bellson, John Cage, Laurie Anderson, Bill Rich(Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Miles, Taj Mahal), the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Red Rodney (Charlie Parker),Jeorge Santana band: Malo, the Full Spectrum Jazz Band, and at the SF Jazz Festival, San Jose Jazz Festival and Fillmore Auditorium....
