About

A 2-part workshop for conceptualizing, arranging, and recording a multi-level Latin jazz project. Musicians of all genres are welcome to participate to foster better understanding between the different musical disciplines. Students are encouraged to bring works in progress and/or original conceptual ideas to be developed in a collaborative format.

Topics to be covered include: Roots and folkloric music, composition and arranging techniques, working in the recording studio, extending the tradition and the “Future and Beyond.” The purpose of this workshop is to help inspire and motivate composers and arrangers to combine the music of Latin jazz and folkloric Afro-Caribbean music with classical music form and orchestration.
