Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet at Community Church Of Mill Valley

Jazz in the Neighborhood presents the Grammy-nominated Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet, performing highlights from their new CD 'Intercambio' as well as selections from their previous critically acclaimed albums. The quintet is Wayne Wallace on trombone, Murray Low on piano, David Belove on bass, Colin Douglas on drums, and Michael Spiro on percussion.

For Wayne Wallace, intercambio, or cultural interchange, is a soul-deep communion, an ongoing and never ending intra-family conversation between the extraordinarily rich African diaspora cultures of the United States and Cuba (and various Caribbean cousins). Though the quintet is comprised of American-born musicians with no Caribbean ancestry, they all became clave initiates in young adulthood and are now steeped in the idioms of jazz, popular Cuban music, and Afro-Cuban folkloric roots.
